Entry Level Fund Accounting Associate - (Accounting for Private Equity, Venture Capital, Venture Backed Start Ups)

You can get your CPA while working here if you want it, but it isn't required! Ideal candidates have an Accounting Degree, Accounting Minor and/or Entrepreneurship Major or Minor (will consider finance degree or other if you have taken accounting classes, have decided to pursue accounting as your career and have done some accounting work, internships, or other). Financial Associate

Segue Partners has immediate openings for Financial Associate candidates that meet our Core Values: responsive, innovative, committed to a long-term relationship with our clients and employees, and honest. Recent graduate or up to two years’ experience is the best fit for this opportunity.


  •  Assist with month-end and quarter-end closing procedures.
  •  Prepare accounting entries for investments and assist with fair value calculations.
  •  Manage capital contributions and distributions for investors in Funds.
  •  Generate and maintain accurate filing of accounting documents and electronic records.
  •  Draft financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Partners Capital, Cash Flows).
  •  Manage client open items and create agendas for meetings with client to communicate needs.
  •  Provide support for the accounting team.
  •  You will be exposed to many facets of our clients’ businesses and have the opportunity to see “behind the scenes” of how VC and PE funds work. But you must be able to translate knowledge learned from one client to another and have excellent memory recall.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Entrepreneurship is a ideal (major or minor), Masters a plus. Desired GPA 3.5 or above; will consider lower with relevant college, work or extracurricular experience
  • Recent Graduate or up to two years’ experience is the best fit for the Financial Associate opportunity. 2-4 years of accounting experience is required for Senior Financial Associate position. Experience with private equity and/or venture capital firms a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that demonstrate professionalism.
  • Proactive team player with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Proven organizational and problem solving abilities, as well as meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience with all Microsoft Office programs (especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with QuickBooks is a plus.
