Civil Engineer Entry Level - Aviation

(CMT), a consulting engineering firm, seeks to add a talented civil engineer to our team located in Kansas City, MO. For over 75 years, CMT engineers have planned and designed airport, transportation, sewer, drinking water, storm drainage, and property development projects. Our history is impressive, and our future is exciting.  

We seek an engineer that is interested in working with our Aviation group. Aviation projects are primarily airport-related, including but not limited to preparation of bidding documents (plans & specifications) including horizontal and vertical layout, site development, grading, drainage, pavement design, marking, signage, erosion control, coordination with other disciplines, water & sanitary utilities, quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and construction scheduling aviation pavement and utility systems and the design and construction of a wide range of aviation-related infrastructure. Experience and training in the full range of transportation systems is a benefit. Daily tasks for Aviation Engineers can include technical design, report writing, field investigations, cost estimating, construction observation, materials testing, attendance at client meetings, and travel to project sites. Our engineers work in collaborative teams of varying sizes across multiple offices depending on the size and scope of the project. Position Requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required. A Master’s degree in advanced studies will be recognized in the evaluation process.
  • Previous engineering experience, or internship experience, is preferred but not required. Experience in design or construction of airport/airfield projects will be recognized in the evaluation process.
  • Registered Engineer Intern that has passed the FE exam or is taking steps to become a certified Engineer Intern
  • Experience using CAD software is preferred. Experience with other design and analysis software tools will be recognized in the evaluation process.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments on a variety of projects, work in an environment to learn quickly, take initiative, and interact with a variety of people
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
