Graduate Assistant - Health Professions Career Services
The MU School of Health Professions Office of Career Services helps students with a number of career-related needs, including the job/career search, graduate school search/application process, interview practice, personal statement writing, and general professional development advice. The office also offers weekly employer/graduate program information sessions and hosts a Career and Opportunities Fair each semester. Our graduate assistants are critical to the implementation of office services and we are hiring TWO for the 2023-2024 academic year.
Work hours for each position: 15 hours per week w/ flexible scheduling during the weekday between 8:30am – 5pm. Must work 2-3 days a week including Tuesday evenings until 7pm. Most of the duties below will be done by both graduate assistants and some will be assigned to a specific graduate assistant based on interest and experience (e.g., Tuesday evening information sessions).
Pay: $13/hour (tuition waiver unavailable)
Duties shall include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the promotion of career services through classroom and student organization presentations
- Plan and implement Tuesday evening information sessions and assist with planning career fairs, special events, and on-campus interviews
- Provide support with various tasks on HireMizzouTigers.com/Handshake including resume reviews, job approvals, creating on-campus interview schedules, and assisting employers with career fair registration
- Responsible for answering the main office phone and overseeing the office email account
- Individual advising (by appointment): Provides advice and tools to assist students in achieving career goals that include graduate/professional school attendance or full-time work upon graduation. Advising appointment topics include resume/CV reviews, career exploration, mock interviews, personal statement review, part-time/full-time jobs, grad school application preparation, and campus involvement as it relates to student’s career goals
- Aid in the collection of recent graduate outcomes data through tabling at graduation, reaching out to advisors/professors, and searching online for graduate data utilizing NACE standards and protocol for graduate outcomes data collection
- Create and research career-related content for the office newsletter.
Job Qualifications:
Clerical or office experience preferred, but not required. Must be a current graduate/professional student at the University of Missouri with preference given to Health Professions (or health-related), Education, and Business majors.
