Government & Industry Affairs Administrator

The successful applicant will be a key member of the Government and Industry Affairs and Legal team at Livestock Marketing Association (LMA) providing administrative support to the LMA Vice President of Government and Industry Affairs and Legal, General Counsel and Vice President of Risk Mitigation, and Director of Government and Industry Affairs.  
 
Based in Kansas City, LMA is the national membership organization dedicated to representing livestock auction markets and related businesses. We are looking for a detail-oriented administrative professional with strong communications and computer skills to allow the LMA team to best serve our members. Core functions of the job will include managing schedules, organizing and updating data, and preparing written communications. Minimum requirements of a college degree or extensive administrative experience. This position will report to the Vice President of Government and Industry Affairs and Legal.   
 
Essential Functions and Duties  
·        Maintains calendars and coordinates scheduling, including scheduling congressional appointments and managing a separate political event calendar for the team.  
·        Creates and maintains various contact lists for members of Congress, Hill staffers, industry leaders, LMA leaders, and other groups. Updates these contacts regularly.  
·        Prepares quality written correspondence, including drafting of emails, letters, and legal correspondence for review.  
·        Coordinates meeting registration, travel, and lodging for team members attending external meetings. 
·        Assists with organization of internal and external documents. Organize materials for meetings, including electronic and physical handout packets.  
·        Formats documents and PowerPoint presentations.  
·        Takes notes in meetings, transcribes recordings, listens to and summarizes hearings and presentations. 
·        Assists in keeping records of Political Action Committee spending and preparation of reports.  
·        Assists in researching and tracking state and federal legislation.  
·        Completes basic legal research with supervision and review. 
·        Reconciles and manages expense reports.  
·        Cross train on other duties as needed, for example submitting market tariff changes to USDA.  
·        Supports team with any additional/necessary administrative duties.

Required Education and Experience  
A minimum of a college degree or a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience required.  
Interest in agriculture industry and/or policy and legal work are of added benefit.
