Hughes Media Corp., publishers of Northwest Quarterly and Smart Living magazines, takes pride in putting out the premier lifestyle magazines of Northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin, Northwest Chicagoland and Northeast Indiana.

 

Our team of talented, passionate, curious and innovative storytellers is looking for an Assistant Editor who can help us to tell dynamic and uplifting stories about our region.

 

As Assistant Editor, you will:

·     Write clearly and concisely across a wide range of topics for print and digital,

·     Proofread copy and layouts,

·     Manage special projects.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

·     A bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field,

·     Ability to write and edit copy across many topics,

·     Proficiency in AP Style,

·     Proficiency in Adobe InDesign,

·     A can-do attitude and the ability to learn quickly, communicate complex topics, adapt in high-pressure situations, work across a broad range of topics, thrive in a deadline-driven environment and lead others.

 

 

This position is based in Rockford, Illinois, a community that’s experiencing an urban renaissance in northern Illinois.
