Event Management Intern (Unpaid)

Job Title: Event Management (Unpaid)

Department: Mizzou Athletics: Event Management & Facility Operations

Summary: The University of Missouri Department of Athletics is accepting applications for the position of Intern within the Event Management Department. This position will perform a variety of tasks, which will assist the Event Management team with carrying out all aspects of the operations of the Mizzou Sports Park. The successful applicant will have the ability to communicate effectively with the public, students, coaches and administrators; have a strong work ethic; possess excellent organizational and time management skills; be customer service oriented; have a high level of computer proficiency with knowledge of Word, Excel and other programs. This position will work under minimal supervision.

Shift: This position is available during the spring and fall semesters. The start and end dates are flexible though applicants should be willing to commit to one full semester. Part-time and full-time internships are available. Please indicate which one you are applying for in your submission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Includes the following, other duties may be assigned:
  • Assists Event Management Department in the planning and coordination of all events within the Mizzou Sports Park. This includes all intercollegiate competitions, concerts, banquets, conferences, etc.
  • Assists with set-up/tear down of all events in the Mizzou Sports Park.
  • Assist with scheduling Event Staff, Security, EMS and MUPD.
  • Assists in the ongoing training of the Event Staff.
  • Serve as a point person for guest service.
  • Create event notes for game day personnel.
  • Attend and/or conduct pre/post event meeting with Event Staff.
  • Attend game operations meetings and assist in planning process for event production logistics and execution.
  • Assist in assessment of needs and preparation of facilities for special events.
  • Assist in evaluating and organizing equipment, maintaining inventory and ordering supplies as needed.
  • Assess needs of venue, promoter, and talent representatives in preparation of pre-sale maps and manifests.
  • Review show contract rider to fully assess show needs, and communicate summaries to venue staff.
  • Work with the facility management team in managing day-of-show tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ensures guests safety while always maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • Plans and executes special projects within the department as assigned.

Qualifications: This is an unpaid internship. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
