Sustainability Intern

This position will be fully remote. 

Job Summary

Are you an ambitious and enthusiastic student looking to join a fast-paced work environment? Are you looking for 10-week internship starting the summer of 2023. Compass Minerals is the place for you. You can expect to engage in various activities that involve collaboration with other interns and departments while working on projects and tasks to ensure you get a real-world business experience. These activities involve coffee chats with Executive leaders and Departmental 101’s. You will have the opportunity to meet the leaders of our company and learn about the roles of each department and how they are essential to Compass Minerals. This program will help you build your resume and develop stronger communication, time management, and organizational skills. You will put your analytical and technical skills to the test as you help the team drive, track, and report upon the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) progress being made, as well as contribute firsthand to our company’s success.

What to expect:
  • Collaborate on cross-functional teams and assist with researching, gathering and compiling information for internal and external communication
  • Assist with updating and maintaining sustainability software data platform
  • Analyze sustainability data, including greenhouse gas emission, water, and waste metrics, for accuracy, consistency, and opportunities for improvement
  • Research sustainability landscape by benchmarking sustainability standards and frameworks
  • Develop sustainability awareness campaign content at company and site level
 

Qualifications

 
Education Requirements:
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or master’s program in an Environmental Science or Sustainability degree program or a relevant field.
  • Rising Junior, Senior, or Graduate students preferred.

Experience/Skill Set:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Has a self-starter attitude with a high level of motivation
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
  • Evidence of leadership skills, working effectively with a team
  • Ability to receive coaching and a desire to enhance learning
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workload
  • High level of attention to detail while providing accurate data aligned with departmental standards
