Legal Secretary - Public Benefits Unit

Legal Aid is in search of a Legal Secretary to work for the Public Benefits Unit in the Central Office in Kansas City, Missouri. The secretary will provide administrative and secretarial support for attorneys and paralegals. This position is responsible for data entry, filing, mailing, and typing legal pleadings, letters and briefs. Other administrative support tasks may be assigned as necessary. The Legal Secretary is responsible for maintaining a high level of confidentiality of sensitive matters that arise within the office. A substantial part of this position also includes providing backup support for our busy switchboard and intake applications desk.  The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and able to prioritize multiple tasks.

The qualified applicant must have the following: typing ability; spelling, grammar and proofreading skills; Microsoft Office proficiency; and client service skills. Legal experience preferred.
Salary $31,250 - $44,822 DOE
