Summary Description:

Provide independent health care and serve in an administrative role in supporting the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Performance and Wellness in all day-to-day operations of the Sports Medicine department as part of the Sports Performance Team.

Responsibilities:

• Provide all aspects of medical care for varsity athletic injuries including, evaluation of injuries and illnesses, developing and applying treatment and rehabilitation programs through the use of therapeutic modalities, exercise, and manual treatment; determine necessity for specific medical referral; exercise professional medical communication skills, often interacting with parents, coaches, physicians, athletic department staff, EMS, and student athletes; maintain proper documentation of all aspects of medical treatment provided.
• Provide sport coverage of multiple Division III teams to include home practices and competitions, as well as travel to offsite games; may provide outreach medical coverage for host events at off campus venue as required. Sports assigned will be reviewed and may be revised annually to best match staffing talents and interests, as well as to maintain balance of coverage requirements within the staff.
• Assist with the day-to-day administrative duties and daily operational requirements of the sports medicine department.
• Assist in the coordination of pre-season visual and dental screenings as part of the pre-season physical exam process; coordinate medical coverage for off-season and pre-season time periods.
• Perform evaluation and orthopedic screening of recruits as permitted by NCAA guidelines.
• Provide leadership in the administration of the daily operational requirements of the sports medicine department.
• Be a pro-active, team orientated, problem solving assistant manager for the Sports Performance Team
• Provides positive customer service to our student-athletes.
• Provide direct supervision and contribution to graduate athletic training student, undergraduate CC work study students, and physical therapy aide education.
• Attend and assist with annual/monthly/weekly meetings required by the sports medicine department, athletic department, or college.
• Coordinate neuropsychology testing for all Colorado College student-athletes.
• Develop and maintain relationships with on-campus and off-campus referral sources for psychological counseling, nutrition, and NSCA staff.
• Remain active in the athletic training profession through continuing education opportunities.
• Maintain a positive rapport and relationship with the athletic department staff, college faculty, staff and students; promote an environment and relationships with students and the campus community that reflects inclusion and respect for diversity and equitable practices.
• Actively support the college’s commitment to be an antiracist institution by understanding, engaging with, and promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity in the college community.
• Promote a culture of safety and environmental protection by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe situations and accidents; following college procedures; and participating in appropriate safety training.
• Demonstrate environmental sustainability by using college resources wisely and supporting the college’s sustainability initiatives and innovation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in athletic training or a related field, current NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer in good standing, eligibility for Colorado State registration, and a minimum of 5 years experience since becoming a Certified Athletic Trainer; strong clinical skills; ability to assist in articulating a clear vision for the college’s athletics programs; ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current CPR with AED certification; experience working in a collegiate, co-educational environment; excellent written and verbal communication skills; working knowledge of insurance referral systems for athletic injury claims; proficiency in workings of electronic medical records; proficiency in standard office equipment.
