Engineering Tutor

The Learning Center is currently seeking tutors for Engineering for Fall semester 2023. Our tutors answer students' questions and explain ideas. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA and at least an A- in the course(s) for which they tutor, in order to be considered. (International Students: TOEFL scores generally must meet or exceed 100 for computer-based and 600 for paper-based testing.) We often need tutors for the following engineering courses (must be able to tutor more than a single course):

  • ENGINR 1200 Intro to Engineering
  • ENGINR 2200 Intermediate Strength of Materials
  • ENGINR 2300 Thermodynamics and above

  • CMP_SC 1050 Algorithm Design/Prog 1
  • CMP_SC 2050 Algorithm Design/Prog 2 and above

  • ECE 2210 Intro to Logic Systems
  • ECE 3210 Microprocessor Engineering
  • ECE 3810 Circuit Theory 2 and above

  • INFOTC 1040 Intro Prob Solv & Programming
  • INFOTC 1610 Intro Digital Media Design
  • INFOTC 2040 Programming Lang & Para and above

  • MAE 1100 Intro to CAD
  • MAE 2600 Dynamics and above

Tutors will gain experience working with people in their area of interest. Most tutors report that the experience of tutoring helps them perform better in their own classes by forming a solid foundation for upper-level courses. Tutors who specialize in BME, BIOL_EN, CH_ENG, CV_ENG, and IMSE should fill out a science application (see one of the science openings or our website: https://learningcenter.missouri.edu/about/become-a-tutor/ to have a better likelihood of being hired and getting hours.
