Job Summary

The Animator reports the Assistant Manager – Videography. This is a hybrid position with in-office location at the Rogers Park, Chicago campus. The Animator – Videography, must be an After Effects expert, and will work closely with leadership, marketing, and product teams to create industry-leading marketing and product animations. 

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 
  • Designs, storyboards, and produces animated technical explainer videos, social media marketing videos, motion graphics, and animated product videos 
  • Assists in live-action video production including camera operation and basic lighting, as well as post-production editing 
  • Experience with 3D animation, turning static CAD files into completed videos 
  • Creates custom assets in Illustrator for highly technical explainer videos 
  • Works collaboratively with members of Videography, Marketing, Product Management, Editorial, and other appropriate parties to develop animation solutions 
  • Sets clear expectations with customers to define scope, schedule, and goals for projects. 
  • Project manages assignments from concept to completion with limited supervision. 
  • Prioritizes and efficiently manages day to day work while updating project management tools in union with ongoing jobs.  
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and offer solutions, including execution of annual projects and goals. 
  • Draws on experience and insights of fellow team members to find solutions. Seeks out additional information when relevant 
  • Sets clear expectations with customers to define scope, schedule, and goals for projects. 
  • Ensures final videos are aligned with branding guidelines. 
  • Stay up to date on new technologies to evolve S&C’s web presence 
  • Commitment to continued training to better understand S&C’s industry and products. 

Minimum Qualifications and Characteristics: 
  • Bachelor's degree in computer animation, related field, or equivalent 
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience 
  • Strong written and verbal communication, problem solving and project management skills 
  • Expert knowledge of After Effects. Advanced knowledge of Photoshop, and Illustrator. Proficient at Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams and Outlook. Working knowledge of DaVinci Resolve & Final Cut Pro X.  
  • Knowledge of Cinema 4D (or similar software) and experience with CAD-based 3D animation  
  • Ability to translate technical information into clear messaging for non-technical audiences

Major Physical Demands 
  • Physical demands normally associated with video production environment including lifting and moving lights, cameras, tripods, sandbags, and other objects up to 50 lbs 
  • Frequent use of keyboard and mouse 
  • Physical demands normally associated with an office environment.
