Field Research Associate II

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate for the field research associate II position to join our fast-paced breeding and testing program. This position will be responsible for all facets of plot management, detailed note-taking, and seed handling. Working within a collaborative team, you will support all field activities, as well as the greenhouse and lab teams during certain periods. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Lead projects and teams for planting, harvesting, and maintaining different yield testing locations. This will include travel to research locations across Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana. • Work collaboratively with product development and commercial teams to achieve the continuous improvement of CoverCress variety and closed loop cropping system performance. This may involve data collection, sample collection and processing, implementing experiments, data management, and coordinating activities across functional teams • Initiate and lead process improvement strategies that increase efficiencies, reduce errors and advance breeding and agronomic development of CoverCress seed and grain. • Supervise and hire seasonal labor to support research and field-testing efforts. • Conduct all activities with health and safety as a main priority.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Essential • Bachelor of Science in Agronomy, Plant Science, Horticulture, Agricultural Economics or related field with 5-7 years of experience OR, a master’s degree in Agronomy or related field with 3 years of experience in either academia or industry. • Demonstrated experience with a multitude of different research equipment, such as plot combines and plot planters. • Demonstrates experience and knowledge of research experiment design, trial implementation, and field selection. • Ability to obtain and maintain a commercial driver's license. • Ability to obtain and maintain a commercial pesticide applicators license. • Ability to obtain drone pilot certification (Part 107 certification) • Experience with breeding research and development field software is useful but not required. • Strong time management and organizational skills. • Ability to travel overnight on occasion. • Experience with Microsoft Office tools • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs BENEFITS • Dental insurance • Flexible schedule • Health insurance • Life insurance • Paid time of
