Corporate Training Program

Our Corporate Training Program is designed for recent graduates who are interested in either Store Management or a Retail Buying Role. During your 8 weeks as a Trainee, you will take a hands-on approach and be a key leader in helping run a store location, provide the exceptional customer service that Von Maur is known for, and explore the different roles that are of possibility to you! After successfully completing the program, you will be ready to jump right into your Executive position as a Floor Manager, HR Manager, or Associate Buyer.

What to expect:

  • Start the program off at our corporate office in Davenport, IA during week 1. You will get a behind-the-scenes look of the business and complete orientation.
  • Experience the role of an associate for 2 weeks; understand our customers and familiarize yourself with the merchandise.
  • Undergo job shadows of Executive Management. Assist with our hiring process, solve customer concerns, help with scheduling, manage a diverse team, analyze sales from different perspectives to understand our business, and make suggestions for success.
  • Connect, learn, and network with the Regional Management team at New Manager Training
  • End your time confidently by stepping in as the manager on duty. You will be responsible for solving customer concerns, employee relations, and closing/opening the store.
  • Transition into a Floor Manager, HR Manager, or Associate Buyer role after successful completion of the program.
  • Two start dates available: January for December graduates and June for May graduates

You will learn how to:

  • Elevate your leadership, analytical, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Handle tough customer and employee concerns/relations situations
  • Analyze our business from different perspectives, and implement your ideas to make a positive impact
  • Curate a one-of-a-kind shopping experience for our customers

Our ideal candidate:

  • Must have, recently, or will obtain a Bachelor's/Associate's degree
  • Ability to lead a team with a sound work ethic and exceptional customer service
  • Retail experience or experience in a customer service role
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • 100% open to relocation to any one of our 37 store locations

        Additional requirements for the merchandising route

  • A strong understanding of buying/analytics or a previous internship in buying
  • Must relocate to the corporate office in Davenport, IA
