KFEQ is seeking an energetic, driven broadcaster to become the next legendary Farm Director. KFEQ is a celebrated heritage agricultural station which recently celebrated 100 years of continuous service.

KFEQ has a rich farm broadcasting history, with former Farm Directors such as Missouri Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame inductee, Gene Millard, and former President of the National Association of Farm Broadcasters, Tom Brand.

The KFEQ Farm Director must be able to communicate commodity markets and explain market trends in an authoritative and conversational manner. The Farm Director is expected to report on local and regional agricultural news and explain how national events impact farmers and ranchers in northwest Missouri, northeast Kansas, southeast Nebraska, and southwest Iowa, known affectionately as the Midland Empire.

We need curiosity, creativity, and initiative. We want someone who will work the phones and get out in the fields to do interviews and gather local stories. 

In addition, advertising sales available for the right candidate.

The right candidate should have…

…an education in broadcasting and communications or experience as a farm broadcaster.

            …the ability to write clearly and concisely for broadcast and web posts.

            …the skill to conduct long-form interviews for broadcast and for our website.

…the flexibility to handle duties in studio and in the field, whether on the farm or at a convention.

…the desire to cut through the clutter and get to the essence of the story and effectively communicate that to our audience.

We need someone with enthusiasm and initiative to take ownership of this position and make KFEQ programming invaluable to the vast Midland Empire farm audience.
