Essential Job Functions

This description is a summary of primary responsibilities and qualifications. The job description is not intended to include all duties or qualifications that may be required now or in the future. The Hotel operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.

  • Responsible for planning and coordinating a variety of recreation programs and activities from sports/games to arts/crafts
  • Must be able to work closely with other departments to coordinate related activities (F&B, Sales, Front Office, etc)
  • Must be able to use high energy and enthusiasm to inspire and engage both guests and team members by creating a fun and memorable environment for all
  • Ensure the staff has all the tools and supplies to complete their job successfully
  • Possess strong hospitality skills while in direct contact with guest and staff, while maintaining a safe and professional environment
  • Oversee staff in day to day operations
  • Responsible for all inventories and purchase orders within the department
  • Maintain a safe work environment by promoting safe work practices and document any unsafe areas/practices with written documentation and work orders with needed
  • Assist with creating a yearly budget for the Recreation Department
  • Process all invoices
  • Responsible for operating facilities within the parameters and guidelines set in the budget
  • Attend required meetings
  • Other duties may be assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within the recreation or hospitality industry
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Creativity and the ability to develop and implement engaging recreational programs
  • Knowledge of various recreation activities and equipment
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written command of the English language to effectively communicate with guests, associates and vendors; knowledge of Spanish is an added plus
  • Superior customer service, teambuilding and conflict resolution skills
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Able to complete projects/assignments thoroughly, professionally and with care
  • Able to adjust to high-pressure conditions and is open to change
  • Can assume responsibility for personal grown and development
  • Conducts him/herself (acts/dresses) professionally at all times; sets standards for all associates
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of all hotel departments and functions

  • Minimum lifting/pulling of 20 pounds
  • Pushing, bending, stooping, upward reaching, manual dexterity
  • Hearing, wring, typing
  • Minimum pulling of 20 pounds
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Must be a strong swimmer
