Science Journalism Opening
Positions open for summer and fall 2024 semesters.
The Bond Life Sciences Center (Bond LSC) is looking for several journalism or marketing students to work 10-15 hours per week.
- This position splits time between stories on research and marketing needs. Projects vary but can include stories on research publications, features on scientists, newsletter items and social media posts. Creativity and ability to find science stories within our labs is important.
- A second focus will be internal communication and social media. Responsibilities will include creating graphics for social and LED displays in Bond LSC, some social media posts and newsletter content.
- We are currently involved in a website redesign, so those hired will help with some migration and creation of content for new site.
We are looking for someone who is proactive and organized. Tell us how your skills can help us accomplish the focuses above. Ability to meet deadlines is essential.
While writing skills are important, incumbent student workers often do all aspects of a story package and campaign. Curiosity and interest in science or environmental journalism is a plus.
Hourly pay starts at $14/hour.
Bond Life Sciences Center houses 31 principal researchers, and their laboratories represent 12 departments within the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources; College of Arts and Science; College of Engineering; College of Human Environmental Sciences; School of Medicine; and the College of Veterinary Medicine.
