GOVERNMENT SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE III / ASSESSOR
JOB OVERVIEW: The purpose of this position is to provide prompt, courteous, informed customer service and accurately assess personal property for the citizens of St. Charles County.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the point of contact to property owners at the Personal Property service windows to answer inquires and assist as needed
- Act as a backup to assist property owners by phone and email as needed
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
- Research property owner’s history to determine eligibility of a Certificate of Non-Assessment/Waiver
- Accurately file property owners’ personal property assessments
- Maintain an understanding of vehicle titling and registration of owned and leased vehicles in the State of Missouri
- Maintain an understanding of titles, title receipts, title applications, vehicle renew notices, vehicle registration documents, and military documents
- Assist business owners by issuing a Certificate of Non-Assessment/Waiver or by filing an Assessment
- Perform data entry of all assessments received annually by May 1st of the current tax year
- Verify previously entered data
- Maintain a high-volume workload in a fast-paced environment
- Copy/scan documents and correspondence
- Organize and archive assessment records
- Stock office supplies
- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- General or Technical high school diploma or GED equivalent – Additional education/training preferred
- Minimum three (3) years of customer service and clerical experience
- Requires successful completion of on-site computerized clerical skills testing as follows:
- Math - 80%
- Data Entry - 4800 KSPH
- Customer Service - 80%
