Music at Great Hearts
- Music - (K-5) - This course focuses on basic theory, classical music history, and choral performance
- Music Theory and Performance - (grades 7-10) - Grades 7-8 are comprised of music theory and recorder performance while grades 9-10 continue with music theory and return to choral performance.
- Introduction to the Fine Arts (History and Practicum) - (6th grade) - At some academies, this introduction to the fine arts covers basic theory and instruction in each of the fine arts areas taught at the prep academy. Some new academies offer this course in 7th grade for entering students.
Requirements
Certification is not required to teach at any of the Great Hearts Academies. Great Hearts teachers hold a bachelor's degree or higher, demonstrate both a love for the breadth of the liberal arts, and a depth of knowledge in the subject area(s) they teach. All candidates must be able to demonstrate they are qualified to teach the subjects they are assigned.
