Position Overview:
Do you have a passion for youth sports with strong communication, media, sales, and marketing skills? Join us as Basketball Communication Specialist where your key responsibilities will include communicating with teams and coaches, traveling to basketball tournaments up to 100 miles from your current residence, collecting vital media contact information, qualifying teams for our state-wide event, capturing team photos, and enhancing our online presence through social media.
About Us:
Since 2012, State Basketball Championship has operated the largest qualifier-based youth basketball tournaments nationwide. We qualify teams at local tournaments in various regions of the state, with the end result being all teams coming together for a statewide tournament taking place in March. With events spanning coast to coast, our 2025 lineup boasts 16 championship tournaments, drawing teams from 22 states and over 22,000 players. Our events unfold in premier venues such as the University of Wisconsin, University of Illinois, the University of Missouri, and more! As a Basketball Communication Specialist you’ll have the opportunity to travel to qualifier basketball tournaments in and around your hometown, fully engaging yourself in the world of youth basketball through communicating with coaches and teams.
Key Responsibilities:
· Communicate with teams, coaches, and parents as the primary point of contact.
· Travel to youth basketball tournaments, up to 100 miles from the city listed in the job posting.
· Collect essential contact information from coaches and teams via quality customer service.
· Capture photos of qualifying teams for marketing on our social media.
· Post on social media (Facebook), highlighting key aspects of the tournament.
· 100% Weekend Availability and flexibility (October– March)
Qualifications:
· Passion for basketball/sports
· Weekend availability and flexibility (October– March)
· Dependable transportation to attend statewide tournaments
· Outstanding communication/public relations skills for effective interaction with teams, coaches, and parents
· Strong organizational abilities
· Comfortable with technology (Social Media/Email/phone camera)
· Quick-thinking and adept at multitasking
· Skills: communications, marketing, public relations, social media, and journalism
This part-time position is an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to enriching youth sports and fostering a positive basketball experience.
