Grain Merchandising Trainee
At Bartlett our Grain Merchandising Trainees enjoy the challenge and opportunity to drive P&L and build relationships. You will be responsible for grain origination and other office operations. These tasks include, but are not limited to: purchasing commodities (wheat, corn, soybeans and/or sorghum) for further processing or resale, and building relationships with both internal and external customers, coordinating truck freight both for the grain facility and a FOB the farm programs, along with applying Bartlett commodity risk management policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide courteous and responsive customer service via face-to-face meetings and phone conversations.
- Maintain computer records of business transactions and product inventories, reporting data to superiors, companies or government agencies as requested.
- Assist in arranging for rail and truck logistics through our Transportation Department and assist in related transportation matters, storage, resale and/or processing of purchased products.
- Assist in monitoring the commodities position statements, hedging and related activities.
- Records data pertaining to receiving, storing, and shipping of grain at grain elevator.
- Records weight, description and destination of grain shipped and received.
- Proficient in word processing, creating spreadsheets, presentations and filing.
- Strong computer, Internet skills, flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others at all levels within the organization.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree (four - year college or technical school) required; field of study: Ag business, ag econ or a business degree with an emphasis in agriculture.
- Must be able to be geographically mobile.
- Must have proven project and management skills.
- Must have ability to work in a team environment.
- Must be proficient with MS Office programs.
- Experience with production agriculture is preferred.
- Must be highly motivated and able to perform in a team environment.
Physical Demands and Requirements
- This job will be primarily based in one of our origination offices, but our ideal candidate would be willing to spend time in the office as well as dedicate time on the road visiting customers and producers.
