1-2's Toddler Teacher (Part-Time)

Little One’s Day Out is a Part-Time Christian Preschool looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and patient Lead Toddler Teacher to provide our young learners with a strong educational foundation and love for learning. The ideal applicant is dependable, energetic, nurturing, and a team player.  Responsibilities include activity planning for a classroom of up to 4 children ages 1-2. 

Little One’s Day Out operates on a school year basis. Our preschool is closed in accordance with the Columbia Public School calendar for holidays, teacher workdays, and school breaks. Our 2024-2025 school year ends on May 16, 2025. We are closed for the summer and return in mid-August for the next school year.

Typical work hours are 8:45am-1:15pm Monday-Friday with additional paid hours for activity planning and preparation outside of instructional hours. Additional paid hours throughout the year for family engagement activities, student conferences, staff meetings, and trainings.

  • Nurturing: Believe that children attend preschool to learn how to recognize and manage their emotions and to gain the skills to communicate their needs and wants in an appropriate and safe manner. 
  • Patience: An abundance of patience is required to assist our youngest classroom with separation anxieties and allowing space for young children to learn safe, appropriate play skills alongside peers.
  • Passionate about Learning: Have a desire to assist children in learning social/emotional skills while teaching pre-academic skills in conjunction with The Missouri Early Learning Goals. Enjoy building language, concepts, and social/emotional skills through play and short teacher-led activities.
  • Positive Attitude: Possess a warm, patient, and nurturing manner with young children and work well within our preschool teaching team.
  • Organized: Maintain a clean and orderly classroom.
  • Dependable: Consistently arrive to work on time prepared for the day.
  • Classroom Management: Establish consistent expectations by establishing and enforcing rules and routines to provide a safe learning environment.
  • Professional: Show professionalism in communication with parents and within the community when representing our preschool.

Minimum Requirements:

  • College experience or degree preferred.
  • Experience teaching in an early childhood classroom setting preferred. 
  • Must pass a physical, TB test, and background check
  • Must obtain CPR/First Aid and Food Handlers Certification
  • Must have experience working with children in a learning environment

Salary

 $15.00-$15.50/hour
