Intraoperative Neuromonitoring Trainee
About Intraoperative Neuromonitoring:
Intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) assesses the function of the nervous system during surgery. By monitoring a patient’s somatosensory, motor, and auditory pathways, as well as individual nerve roots and EEG, the surgical neurophysiologist (or IONM technologist) can provide information about the functionality of the patient’s nervous system. The surgical neurophysiologist is responsible for relaying ongoing information to the surgical team during the procedure, aiding in preventing iatrogenic injury and assessing predictive function post-operatively for the patient.
