Mondelēz International

Procurement Intern

May - August 2023 • East Hanover, NJ

What I liked

The internship offered hands-on experience, supportive colleagues, and a fun environment, providing me with valuable insights into the procurement function and the food industry. I enjoyed leading projects as an intern and collaborating in team settings.

What I wish was different

Clearer deadlines from the start would have improved project management, and more opportunities to create connections among interns across departments and different states.

Advice

Prioritize networking, leverage mentorship, and take the initiative to explore areas of interest. Challenge yourself to do more than what's asked of you, ask questions, and actively seek opportunities for growth and learning.

Finance Intern

May - July 2023 • East Hanover, NJ

What I liked

Mondelez International takes care of its employees. US work culture can often be extremely toxic, but I found this to be the opposite. There were many instances where I or another coworker needed flexibility and understanding. Each case was handled extremely well.

What I wish was different

Mondelez International is such a large organization that there are so many ways to get one thing done. Intraorganization communication and standard processes to access the main system would be huge to a smoother experience. Otherwise, I wish my internship experience was longer.

MBA Brand Management Intern

June - August 2023 • East Hanover, NJ

What I liked

Great place to work with supportive and outgoing colleagues. It was clear that our summer projects were not just "busy work" but real business challenges that the team needed help with. The internship program offered a unique opportunity to delve into the inner workings of the business and become subject matter experts in a short period of time.

What I wish was different

Very little on the job training which can be difficult for career switchers.

Advice

Take the time to network with people from different teams and learn about their brand, challenges, opportunities, etc. Even though the summer goes by quickly and you're often busy working on your individual project, the insights and learnings from others are invaluable.

What I liked

The environment and my coworkers were amazing, and I got to learn about an integral part of the process of how my favorite cookies get to my local stores.

What I wish was different

I wish we could have had a bit more hands-on experience than we did but overall I still learned a lot.

Advice

Business Development Sales Intern

May - September 2023 • East Hanover, NJ

What I liked

I had the privilege of working closely with Mr. Peter, who oversaw the entire Sales Division for North America. In this role, I gained valuable insights into the intricacies of the confectionery industry, retail market and contributed to various aspects of the business development process. I also had the opportunity to make numerous store visits across different airports, allowing me to understand the unique challenges and opportunities within each location. One of my most significant achievements during my internship was the completion of a comprehensive mapping project. This project involved creating a visual representation of our sales and distribution network, taking into account various factors that could affect efficiency. By conducting this analysis, I was able to provide valuable insights into optimizing our sales processes and increasing overall efficiency.

What I wish was different

I wish the tenure of the internship lasted longer. It was a really enlightening experience and I could have networked better with an increase in length of the internship.

Advice

In the modern business world, data is a powerful tool that can drive success. Your involvement in managing sales data and conducting mapping projects demonstrated the significance of data in making informed decisions. In any role, but especially in sales and business development, being comfortable with data analysis and using it to guide your strategies can set you apart.
