Qualtrics

Software Test Engineer Intern

May - August 2022 • Seattle, WA

What I liked

Amazing office with free food and lunches and drinks, lowkey work environment with real diversity and representation, modern tools and technologies

What I wish was different

Workload and more communication from management. We have not heard back about return offers still and it's been 2 months.

Software Engineering Intern

June - August 2021 • Seattle, WA

What I liked

I really enjoyed the work that I did and the team that I worked on. It allowed me to really experience what software engineering in the professional field was like.

What I wish was different

Being remote made it much more difficult to get to know the team I worked with. I wish the internship was in person, however the circumstances of the pandemic meant it was impossible. Qualtrics flew every intern out to the offices for a week, and that week was definitely the best, getting to meet my manager and other interns in person.

Advice

Don't be afraid to speak when you have a question, people want to answer them!

Phone Operations

May 2018 • Provo, UT

What I liked

The atmosphere is laid back and good. There are a lot of smart people at the company. The job I had was good while I was a student in school.

What I wish was different

I feel like some of the things promised in my interview never actually happened. I was told I would receive projects to help my team which never happened.

Advice

Be outgoing, positive and smart.

Software Developer Intern

May 2019 • Provo, UT

What I liked

I liked the culture and the people I got to work with. I also liked the complexity of my project and its potential impact.

What I wish was different

I do wish my mentorship had been more consistent. In the middle of my internship, my mentor was needed by a different team and I was paired with a less experienced engineer. I ended up seeking guidance from my team lead more often than my second assigned mentor.

Advice

I would say that if there are setbacks in a project or your overall working experience, actively seek after solutions to better your obstacle. This comes through a variety of means, usually actively seeking after feedback of your progress and interactions is one such method.

What I liked

I learned a lot and it is a great company for young professionals and new college graduates

What I wish was different

Nothing

Advice

The summer job as opposed to an internship has been really rewarding as I can still work really flexible hours for the rest of my college experience. I would say that if you are looking for an internship don’t shut out jobs like this one. It’s exactly like an internship but more rewarding

Sales Operations Analyst

May 2019 • Provo, UT

What I liked

I enjoyed putting the skills I’ve been learning in school to use, and learning new skills. I use a lot of SQL in my role, and my skills improved immensely during my time here at Qualtrics. Also, I was able to learn Tableau and do several projects with it that made a real impact in the sales department.

Full-Stack Software Engineer

May - August 2019 • Provo, UT

What I liked

I love the culture at Qualtrics! They really take care of their employees and my coworkers are so fun. I learned so much and I feel like Qualtrics is invested in my personal growth.

What I wish was different

There are some annoying systems with the whole move to SAP stuff. I also really didn’t like the bureaucracy that makes getting a full time offer so long. I should’ve know by the end of my internship, but it’s taking about 3 months since I went part time during the school year. Doesn’t make sense.

Advice

Do as many internships as you can to learn skills but also to learn about companies so you can make a better decision about where you want to work.

What I liked

I loved the transparency that exists at Qualtrics. I was aware of exactly what was expected of me.

What I wish was different

I wish that I would have been paid more.

Advice

Reach out to BYU graduates that currently work for the company you are applying for. That is a great resource that can help prepare you for interviews and help you get a better understanding of the company.

Software Engineering Intern

May - August 2019 • Provo, UT

What I liked

Everything! The people there were awesome and the workplace was great. My favorite thing, though, was how much trust I feel like I was given as just an intern. I was given a large project with company-wide impact.

What I wish was different

I can't really think of anything. My whole experience was positive.

Advice

Don't think that you can't do it or you're not good enough. I've never really considered myself an amazing programmer; I think I'm about average. If I can do it, you can!

UX Design Intern

May - August 2019 • Seattle, WA

What I liked

Qualtrics has the feeling of a startup with the financial backing of SAP who acquired them earlier this year. The company is growing very quickly, but employees (even interns) have the opportunity to sit and talk to company executives about their experiences and the direction of the company. Qualtrics interns are supplied with a team, a mentor and a manager who are available for direction and support at all times. The projects I got to work on were implemented and are now being used by real customers.

What I wish was different

The timeline of the hiring process was delayed and therefore it was difficult to find housing in Seattle at such short notice; however, the company does provide a housing stipend to help with this.

Advice

Continuously seek feedback on your projects. Company employees from all teams are always willing to provide feedback to make the product better.

Sales Development Representative Intern

May - August 2019 • Dallas, TX

What I liked

Flexible hours and a lot of autonomy with what I was doing, great management and mentorship from employees at the company and a lot of opportunities to be included in the culture of the office.

What I wish was different

Spending the full two weeks in training that new employees get instead of only one.

Advice

If you work hard you'll get the full benefits of the experience.

Software Engineering Intern

May 2019 • Provo, UT

What I liked

The Qualtrics company culture is an amazing place to learn and work. I felt like the internship program is well structured and I had meaningful work to do all summer. I had some level of autonomy and I was able to bring a lot of value to my team and my organization because of the project that I was given.

What I wish was different

Honestly, I don't think that there is anything I would have wanted to be different about the experience.

Advice

The interview process to get into Qualtrics as a software engineer is difficult, but worth it.

Sales Development Representative

May - August 2018 • Provo, UT

What I liked

Qualtrics was a fun company. Dogs, snacks, scooters, and free lunches. The people are fun to work with as well. I made so many friends and had an absolute blast!

What I wish was different

My experience was mostly sales. I was hoping to have more of a marketing or market research experience, but I was mostly cold calling people to get a meeting to meet with another sales rep.

Advice

It's sales. It says "research", it's not. Get a tough skin and be prepared for rejection and lots of calling. Have fun with everyone there because you will make friends and party a lot!
